Should I tell parents about hinge date?

Basically I downloaded Hinge as a (sort of) joke, then I started talking to a girl who's actually really nice so I asked if she wants to meet in-person and she said yes. I'm at uni, so it's not like I'm sneaking out of the house, but I always tell my parents about girls I like and relationship stuff etc and always very open, but I really don't think they'd be very keen on me meeting up with someone I've only met online.
I do wanna tell them and it would make things easier if it's all in the open, but at the same time I don't think they'd be very happy about it. My other option is just meeting her and then if things start to go well, I tell my parents and make up a fake story with her about how we met. What do ppl think?

Meet her first and see if you want to meet her again, before telling your parents.
If the relationship works, admit how you met…don’t hide it.
I actually met my wife this way and there’s no secret about it.

See how it goes, tell them if it develops in to a thing. App dating is the modern way, no shame in telling them

Don't make a fake story, they'll be able to tell something's off, plus you'd have to convince her to go along with it. It's not embarrassing to say you met her online.
