Will the number of gcses that I do affect universities from accepting me?

I was doing 10 gcse subjects but because Ive been ill ive missed a couple of months. My teachers recommended me to drop some subjects so it will be easier for me to focus on other subjects and get better grades for them. I just want to ask will I still be able to get into GOOD universities with 9 subhects. Do universities care more about what grade you get or do they care about the amount of gcses you do?

Most universities care little about your GCSE grades, beyond Maths and/or English Language. Some stipulate that you must have at least five GCSEs above a particular grade (typically grade 5).

Those universities which use GCSEs more in their ranking / scoring of candidates stop counting after eight GCSEs. This is simply because not all schools offer more than eight, so it would be unfair to students at schools which only offer eight to ranks students where you can study nine or ten more highly, simply because of that fact.
