Gym exercises for sprinting speed

Do you have to train upper body for sprints? Everyone I have seen in sprints have jacked upper bodies but I don’t really see how upper body will help benefit your sprint speeds and if you guys have any gym exercises that would be good to increasing sprinting speed

It is a simple case of biomechanics. upper body strength generates momentum. Try sprinting with your arms firmly by your side and minimum rotation in your torso.

As Gazpacho says, the upper body is involved in sprints. And the people who are very good at sprinting also generally have good genes for building muscle, hence why they look the way they do.

Are you a sprinter or are you looking to get better at sprinting for another sport or purpose?
