Mental Health Forum Rules

Hello everyone!
We all want TSR to be a safe place for users to get support and constructive, helpful advice.
We do not want anyone to get triggered or feel worse as a result of posts on the site, whether that would be a response to a post, or a separate post made by another user.

It is for this reason that we have rules relating to self-harm and suicide discussion.

RULES

Not allowed:

Do not post anything that encourages others to self-harm

Do not post anything that encourages suicide

Do not discuss methods of self-harm

Do not use code words to circumvent these rules

As above, even in spoiler tags

Please do not talk about recent suicides as this may be triggering for others

Allowed:

Suicide prevention advice

Self-harm prevention advice

Expressing that you are struggling with mental ill-health

Any allowed conversation about suicide and self-harm must have a spoiler with a clear trigger warning.

If you are having thoughts of suicide, Papyrus is an organisation that is there to help you: Papyrus UK Suicide Prevention | Prevention of Young Suicide (papyrus-uk.org)

The Samaritans are also available 24/7 and can be contacted by calling: 116 123

The following organisations may also be able to support you:YoungMinds | Mental Health Charity For Children And Young People | YoungMinds

Get Support - The Mix

The reason that TSR signposts users to professional mental health support is that:
- TSR staff are not professionally trained to deal with people having thoughts of self-harm or suicide. We feel that directing people to appropriate help is safer than posting on TSR about it.
- We would never want someone to be made to feel worse for posting about their feelings, other users may respond in ways that are unhelpful or upsetting.
- There is a risk of triggering other users.

Our automatic moderation procedures may, on occasion, miss some content that is unsuitable to have on the site. If you see that this has happened, please use the report function to help our moderators become aware of problematic posts.

With regards to other triggering subjects, spoiler tag them as follows:

TW: TRIGGERING CONTENT

When posting, please adhere to these rules to ensure a better place for the community and to help people to get the support and advice they need.

Many thanks 😊
