Is student accommodation paid for monthly?

I've been looking at university websites, and at places like Oxford figures for accommodation are given nightly or annually. Is accommodation paid monthly, like a standard rental contract, or is it paid at different times?

Hi! Often Student Accommodation like halls of residence are paid per term. This is because they expect you to not stay in the halls over the summer while there is no classes. It does differ between universities but the accommodation page should have a section that shows how you pay!

Hi there,
This will likely vary depending on the accommodation but often you will have a choice of how to pay. For example, at Student Roost the options are monthly, termly or annually. The weekly rate is often given so you can see how much the accommodation costs per week but its worth enquiring to see if this rate changes due to the tenancy length or payment option you prefer.

Oxford is given nightly on some college websites, but from what I gather its paid per term (when we checked when daughter applied a few years back). Because a lot of students maintanance loan is paid in that way, so university halls accommodation payments are due around the same time as the payment from the government.

Is student accommodation paid for monthly?
