Hi Xoco coco,

I know that deciding on which university is best for you can be a stressful process; however, in my experience it is usually best to think about which modules and which university’s ethos best fit you as a person. SOAS’ core focus in all its teaching has always been Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. Therefore, if you are interested in studying your subject from a post-colonial perspective, then SOAS would be a great fit for you. Additionally, since SOAS is a UoL institution, you can study intercollegiate modules at other UoL institutions, for example, UCL. If you choose SOAS but a module at UCL is particularly catching your eye, you are able to study it by making an application here.

When deciding which university to choose I narrowed down my choices to three universities, I ended up choosing SOAS because the modules piqued my interest more, the people I came across here seemed particularly kind, and it is renowned for its China department.

You are also welcome to get in touch with the key staff on MSc Migration, Mobility, and Development; a good point of contact for your queries is Dr Paolo Novak, whose email is [email protected].

I hope this helps, and if there's anything else that I can help you with - please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Best of luck with your decision-making process!
