Degree apprenticeships 2025

Hi!
I'm looking to do a degree apprenticeship when I finish my ALevels (currently y12) and I was wondering if anyone who has already applied for / started them has any tips?
I'm going into engineering so any sector-specific info would be great (Electronic/Mechanical/Robotic/anything along those lines)
Also could someone please tell me when the opening/closing dates for applications would be?
Thanks so much!

most degree apprenticeships open around november to january time and close like march/april , some are earlier some are later it's up to the company so check their websites for specific times

i was looking for degree apprenticeships for engineering and ended up applying to JLR, rolls royce and dyson but there are quite a lot out there for engineering so apply to as many as you can

I’m currently involved in hiring Engineering and Project Manager Degree Apprentices.

Our process is:

1.

Online application + CV (typically a few questions)

2.

Confirmation of interest and availability call

3.

Video interview (get fed questions by a slide deck and will be recorded - we review the recorded interview later)

4.

Assessment day invite
tour of site
1-2-1 interview
Pre-prepared Presentation
Q&A with past apprentices
“Technical” exercise
Group exercise

so first you fill in the application, it's general information about you, your grades/predicted grades etc and part of that is answering some questions like why you wanna work there (i think the questions they ask or similar questions are on their website)
next stage (i think but i might be getting mixed up with other applications) was like online games and tasks and sort of assessments you had to do (i can't remember much about these)
next stage is interviewing which is either in person or online (mine was online) there was one that was like an actual interview where they ask questions and you answer then there was one where you got like a case study. you had three options and had to choose what was the best option another a stage where you had to do a presentation on a topic of your choice.
then you get a conditional offer if you pass all that
conditions being getting grades and passing background check.
They'll give you information on all of this as you reach the stages

Thanks

Hi, hope you're alright. I managed to get 8 degree apprenticeship offers last year, including electrical engineering and mechanical engineering degree apprenticeships so I will be able to help.

The application for engineering degree apprenticeships starts in around October. Here are my top tips:

1) Get work experience - this is the number one thing recruiters are looking for. It's a great opportunity to develop your industry knowledge and relevant skills, as well as getting a big company name onto your portfolio.

2) Write a very high quality CV and cover letter - this is your first opportunity to impress the recruiters and stand out from the rest of the competition so you want to make sure you capitalise here.

3) Apply to lots of companies (10+) - the more you apply to, the more practice you get at the application process so the better you will be. Yes, it takes time and effort but you will be rewarded by getting lots of offers and having a free choice of which company to go to.

4) Practice for interviews - think about the answers to common questions, prepare scenarios of times when you've shown key skills, dress smart and have intelligent questions ready to ask the interviewer at the end.

If you want, I can send through some links which can help you more with getting work experience, writing a high quality CV and acing your interviews so that you have the best chance in the application process.

Just let me know if you're interested. Otherwise, hope that helps and good luck with getting your degree apprenticeships.

Hey I'm also applying for an apprenticeship at Dyson. Was your application to the Dyson Institute of Eng. or Dyson itself (do dyson offer apprenticeships outside of their institute?? idk)

Anyways, I was wondering if you could elaborate on the process for Dyson?
Thank you so much!

It was the dyson institute, it's like an apprenticeship so don't think they offer other apprenticeships (i could be wrong idk). The Institue is a bit like uni and apprenticeship from what i gathered as you do 2 days study and 3 days work.
What kind of things do you want to know about it?

Hi, my son is expecting results for A levels tomorrow, he wants to do an apprenticeship. If you could tell us as much details as possible about JLR that'd be great.
Thank you

If he wants a degree apprenticeship for september, he would have had to apply earlier this year. I never finished the original application for JLR so can't really tell you much about it other than you had to fill in basic details and probably answer questions like why you what to work there. Good luck for tomorrow anyway

any info would be great- tips, what they are looking for, what kind of things to include etc

so first is just filling in basic details, right to work, grades etc
then it's online interviews thing, you basically record an answer to a question so you don't actually speak to anyone, talk about like the key values of the company, look into what they are looking for and link those things to experiences you've had. There's also like an online game section it's mostly just pattern stuff there isn't really a way to prepare for this, i guess you could try and find similar games but i wouldn't spend much time on this.
then they invite you to an in person applicant day where you visit the site and such. You have to do an interview, group assessment and technical assessment. So they're looking for how you work in a group, in the group one. How you think in the technical one (they're not really looking at your actual technical knowledge but just try your best keep guessing stuff). Then interview is like standard interview stuff.
then you either get an offer or not (obviously then you have to get the grades too).

tips would be too look into their key values and link you and your experiences to them also attend any online webinars they offer because they are gonna give you tips and stuff too

I helped a bunch of people this year get into JLR so I can definitely help.

It's one of the most competitive degree apprenticeships out there in the engineering sector so you need to go in with a very strong application, which includes work experience and other key achievements. They will ask for a CV, cover letter and an application question.

Then it's online testing. The key thing here is you need to know exactly what JLR is looking for. Some of the things they are looking for (it's on their mark scheme) include:

Working with others

Problem solving

Quality focus

(there's a few more which I'm happy to go into more detail on over DM).

And then finally it's an assessment centre which includes an interview and a presentation. For the interview, ensure that you embody the JLR Creator's Code (google it). And for the presentation, ensure that you thoroughly research and understand JLR's Reimagine strategy (also google it).

If you want any more detail about JLR, I'll be helping people get into roles which start in September 2025.So feel free to drop me a DM if you want to know more.
