what are my chances of getting into a good university?

hi! so i haven't really done any research on any unis i'd like to get into, but i do have queen mary in mind. im just wondering if there's any chance i could get into queen mary. im currently in year 1 of a levels and my subjects are biology, chemistry and physics. i'd like to do biochemistry/biomedical sciences/biological sciences from queen mary. oh also i would LOVE to stud forensics but idk what unis offer that course so i'll have to look it up. but yeah currently my grades aren't the best - i got a B in chem (1 mark away from an A), a C in physics and a D in bio during my mid terms. my finals are coming up in about 2 and a half weeks so lets hope i score well in them!! i'm giving composites for a levels so that means ill officially give my cies next year (2025). andd yeah i hope thats enough info pls lmk if i have any chances thank u

hi thank u sm for letting me know! this is making me feel more hopeful. i had a few more questions if u dont mind - do o level transcripts matter? and extracurriculars? like what are some other things i need to do for my application? also i didn't get the best o level grades so pls lmk if that'll affect my apps (1 A*, 2 A's, 4 B's and a C in math). oh and one last and vv important question!! how do u study for bio and chem lmao im literally crying over them every single day cus idk how to start. for context im well versed in about 60% of each subject but ive got my exams coming up soon and im struggling with getting myself to study and not knowing where to start from.

Np! Sorry im not very famililar with o-levels, are they similar to GCSEs? I'm not sure the actual grades matter, so long as u passed everything which u have. In terms of extra curriculars, I'm not too sure how important they are since I don't feel as though I've done too much myself. If it helps give context, the only other things I wrote on my personal statement was extra reading and my own research that I did around topics related to biomed that piqued my interest as well as some extra lab work I've done and put that into context of how it related to things i want to do in the future. Uhmm and also i never rly did work experience so i spoke about how i care for my grandfather (a stroke patient). Things i did within school were the UKMT maths challenges and also being a teaching assistant in maths classes. So really basic, minimal and easy to-do things I'd say.
For revision, I have a post alr on my gyg talking abt how i revise so i'll just copy and paste that here haha. I think the key is to not spend too much time on what to get started on and to just pick something and actually get started. From there, it'll be easier to move on and see what u really need to revise.

Bio OCR A:

ocr have their own textbook so i find it best to use that to check whether im going into enough/too much detail

spec to check ive done everything/whats left to go over

save my exams/youtube vids- notes and understanding

pmt- exam qs/flashcards

Chem AQA:

cgp textbook-understanding/notes

youtube vids- long concepts i cba to read

my teacher gives us exam qs for each topic from chem sheets but i think u need to pay for that (sorry 😕 )

past papers

pmt- exam qs

multiple choice practice from exampro- helpful to practice but i think only teachers can access that, u can find loads on pmt tho!

And yeah i think thats everything 🙂 I don't write notes really. Unless its something i know i dont understand then yeah i'll write it out but asides from that i do more practice since i find it sticks better. Good luck!
