Student loan

Hi, I have been studying Business management since October I work part time (18) hours a week. I applied for student finance I currently hold pre-settle and they have cancelled my application due to my earnings..so I would like to ask if there’s anything I can do to get my maintenance loan as a migrant student maybe use my parents income/earnings? Please give me advise I am struggling financially and I’m not getting any help from student finance

Thank you

Hi Nikota,

Have they cancelled this due to you not working or did you not start working until after the 1st of September 2023? Thanks, Jason

Hi, thank you for getting back to me I am currently working 18 hours a week I have started my course is October 2023. They have cancelled my application because I am not earning enough. But I have sent them more payslips just in case I’m not sure what to do now I am struggling and I don’t know what to do anymore .
Thank you

Hi, thank you for getting back to me.

I have started my course in October 2023 and I am currently working (18) hours a week. They have told me that the money I earn is not enough to be eligible for my maintenance loan. However I have sent them my new payslips as the ones I had weren’t correct ones. Other then that I’m not sure what to do if this doesn’t work out for me I’m in a tough situation.

Thank you

Hi there,

If you have sent new evidence in the team will need to review this to determine if they can award the finance or not. This is currently taking 9 working days. If you're still not working enough, can you confirm if your parents are EU/EEA nationals and what status they hold? Are they working in the UK and will continue to work while you study?

Thanks,
Claire

Thanks. If you wait for your application to update via the 9 working day estimated timescale. If all accepted then your funding would be reinstated. This is an estimated timescale based on current workflows. You can track your application with our processing timescale via here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/sfe-current-application-timescales or via your account here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8a4p4IP1lzo
Thanks, Jason
