Hi @Janhavi_5777

The MSc Data Science has good graduate prospects, with previous graduates in careers such as data mining and data analysis and a high average salary- the website I've linked has a section on employability. Also, UEA has a well-established careers service, which aids you in developing a CV and applying for jobs, even after graduating! I can say from experience that this is really helpful!

Whilst I don't study this degree, do feel free to ask more about the uni or anything related to the course, I can do my best to find information for you! You can also check out our Unibuddy platform, as there are current staff and students on there who might be able to tell you more about what studying that specific degree is like, or what the school is like more broadly.

I hope this helps!

Hey 😊 Congrats on looking into MSc Data Science and yes, UEA can be a really good option, especially if you want a course that’s practical and lets you shape your pathway (AI / visualisation / programming / databases etc.). The course is specifically designed to train data analysts/data scientists for careers across industries.
What makes UEA a strong choice (and why people pick it)
1) Strong careers support (this is the big one) UEA’s Careers Service (CareerCentral) is very active you get:

1:1 careers advice and guidance as a student

access to MyCareerCentral (jobs/internships board + resources) and they even advertise part-time roles and internships

support from placements/internships experts, plus things like the UEA Mentoring Programme to connect with industry professionals

careers events throughout the year (useful for networking when you’re new to the UK)

Also nice: UEA says you can still access careers support for up to 3 years after graduating (helpful if your job search continues post-MSc).
2) Employability signals are decent UEA’s School of Computing Sciences reports an average 90% positive graduate outcomes (2019–2022)(employment/further study within 15 months). (Not MSc Data Science-specific, but it’s a reassuring indicator about the school.)
About finding a full-time job as an international student
Honest answer: it’s very doable, but it’s rarely “easy” anywhere in the UK the students who land roles fastest usually:

start building a portfolio from week 1 (GitHub projects)

use CareerCentral early for CV/LinkedIn/interview practice

try to get any UK experience (internships, part-time, small data projects)

If your goal is a job after the MSc, UEA is a good place to be because the careers infrastructure (MyCareerCentral + advisers + internships support + mentoring) gives you more chances to get that UK experience while you study.
