Uni of Bath Vs Uni of Nottingham

Hi guys I’m struggling between choosing Nottingham or Bath to firm and I was wondering if anyone had any advice. I’ve got an offer for pure economics at Bath (AAA) and an offer for politics and economics at Nottingham (AAA). They both require the same grades so that’s not a worry. Both unis are highly ranked, have a nice campus and social aspect. However, Bath does offer a placement year course whereas Nottingham does not (but I think you can still do an optional placement year there its just more rare). But, Nottingham comes up as one of the semi-targets from investment banks whereas Bath does not. Does anyone have any advice that could help? Thanks!

i had to decide between these unis too and ended up firming bath, i think its important to remember that because notts placement years are more rare you're at risk of having to find a whole new group to share a house with third year because its likely all your friends would have graduated. having a placement year from a reputable firm which bath is great at helping you find will give you a massive leg up when you graduate and are looking for jobs, especially in finance where you end up having to compete with a massive pool of applicants, not just econ and finance majors but a whole bunch of people who have realised that finance is the best industry to go in to make money. plus bath has fantastic sports facilities and a far nicer town, its one of the most beautiful places in the uk

Hi,

I do CompSci at Bath, not Engineering. I just wanted to comment on the non-academic side.

You should make sure to visit both universities. I go to Bath, while my close friends go to Notts and I've been to visit many times. In my opinion, Notts has a better social life than Bath. Their scales are a whole lot different as well, with Notts having a huge campus spread over multiple sites while Bath's is relatively small. Bath is also a very small and beautiful city while Notts is pretty much London 2.0 both in terms of students and city from my experience, so it's a matter of preference there. I would say that the uni experience is definitely very different between the two, so visit both even if it's not for an open day or anything.
