Student Finance Eligibility - British national and passport, Living in France

Hello,
The more I read the eligibility criterias for SFE, the more I get confused (and stressed).

I start University in September for an undergraduate course (with Home fees).
I am a British national with a British passport but have lived my whole life in France. My father is also a British national who was born in the UK and I have family living in the UK.

According to https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/student-finance-eligibility-2021-to-2022-academic-year/eligibility-rules-for-home-fee-status-and-student-finance-from-the-2022-to-2023-academic-year-onwards, I am eligible "for home fee status, tuition fee and maintenance support from Student Finance England for courses starting on or after 1 August 2021 and before 1 January 2028" as I "have lived in the EEA, Switzerland, the UK or Gibraltar for at least the last three years".

If the above is true then what is the three year UK residency rule?

Could someone confirm that I am indeed eligible?

Thanks and best regards,
Eloïse

Hi Eloise,

Yes, that's right - based on what you've said you'll be eligible for funding as a home student. This is because you've lived in the UK or EU for the past 3 years.

We'd recommend making an application online as soon as possible. That way, we can confirm for sure that you're eligible.

Thanks, Graeme
