A Level Law- Human rights or contract law?

Hi, I’m currently studying AQA A Level Law and I’m trying to chose between Human Rights or Contract Law for the third exam. Can anyone who’s done either of these give me pros and cons of either? Which one has more to remember or more cases etc? Thank you!

I mean I do edxecel but we had to also pick either contract or human rights and we picked contract.
I think contract had a lot and I mean a lot of workload and information on it but it does teach you a lot about how to defend yourself if something with a company or something breached a contract and human rights I would of personally picked but my teacher said that it’s kind of difficult to have a structure on writing a problem question but yeah!

Hi there

I didn't study law at A-levels but I can give some insight into the content based on what I've studied during my law degree.

In contract, you're more likely to study to-the-point case law (some of which I found super interesting) which establishes legal principles. I think having some basic knowledge of contract law is good as you'll encounter these a lot as you grow older.

Human rights is, IMO, way more technical than contract and would interest you if you can see yourself pursuing that as a career. It's very case-heavy too which might involve reading several cases in-depth. It probably won't have much practical effect on your everyday life.

Ultimately, both areas are very case-heavy but I would pick contract just because I found it less demanding than human rights.
