Strathclyde private accommodation

I am starting my studies of computer science at Strathclyde in September. I have applied for student accommodation, however I live within the 25 miles and I believe that makes it unlikely for me to be accepted. I don’t want to commute so I am considering private student accommodation in Glasgow. If there is any one who has used private accommodation could give me some advice as to which is the best option it would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Be wary of Bridle Works Glasgow - friend used to live there and it was covered in mould and the washing machine leaked!!

Hi there!

I have had mixed opinions on what is the best option as living in your own flat can be annoying with dealing with landlord and neighbours as well as a long walk to uni but also its cosier and you can really make it yours. on the other hand student accomm manage everything for you like bills and maintenance but it is less like your home as its a tinier room and generally you dont chose who you stay with.

If you're interested in student accommodation, i have a tenancy to takeover at Buchanan View Student roost which is a fairly nice accommodation but is being renovated so hopefully will be an amazing student accomm in the next few months 🙂 my room there is 188/week including bills (if you pay all at once, a bit more if you want to pay in installments), it has a nice common room with free pool table, video games and table tennis. It is meant to have a gym with the renovations.

Let me know if you're interested and i can give you more details or organize a viewing.

cheers x

Second that, I saw it being built very shoddily and moving in students when works were still ongoing (I passed it every day on my commute to the bus station). I had a good laugh when I saw this BBC article too -

not at all surprised its so bad to this day too though a shame for the students as its so bloody expensive

Hey, have you found a stay yet? Was actually looking for a replacement tenant for a silver ensuite at buchanan view for 185 pw. Do text me if interested or if you know anyone who would be willing to take up the space.
Thank you!
