GPHC 8 year rule

In 2023 I started Pharmacy (4 years) and dropped out before the first semester ended and also I did not formally take any exams. I dropped out due to personal reasons that hindered my ability to study.

This year I am starting MPharm with foundation (5 years) I am aware that the GPHC only allows a maximum of 8 years from the moment you register as a pharmacy student to qualify as a registered pharmacist.

In my case I only stayed at the uni for a few weeks, would my 8 year countdown have started or will it start officially Wien I actually study permanently in September at my new university

Yes my university informed me the timer restarts When I enrol with them which I did.

I also contacted the GPHc countless times in which I got 2 responses. One of them said yes it resets and the other one said it’s upto your MPharm programme director to decide.

The response I got was that since I didn’t do any formal assessments the timer restarts and I have this in writing by the GPHc too.

You should be fine, also another reasons why I think you should be fine is because unis like university of reading mention “if you have previously studied year 1 of MPharm at another university and would like to start year 1 with us please provide us with supplementary information” which I believe just means it’s fine.

Hope that helps, I spent weeks stressing for no reason
