Losing offer twice

I don't know what to do. Last year I got an offer to my dream uni for ABB English Literature (KCL + UCL). I need ABB, easy right? I need 90% for an A in English Lit. They decided to raise the grade boundaries, I would have gotten in last year but no I was off by 2 marks. I got BBC, each grade 1-3 marks off the boundary.

So I decided to retake, picked up Psychology A-Level to do in one year as instead of another (for some stupid reason - but its surprisingly easier). I didn't think I was going to get an offer but I did, for ABB again. I had many circumstances that made me struggle and I don't think I can get an A. I am way worse off than I was last year. I can get an A in any other subject easily, so I wish I just applied to Philosophy where it wasn't subject specific because then I could firm out my easier subject and get an A in that.

They probably wont take me in if I miss my offer and resit once again. I don't know what to do at all. I don't know what to do. I would rather not be unsuccessful two times, should I withdraw apply for a different subject and resit for the first time next year rather than risk it and have to resit again/

Why dont you apply to other universities which have the same courses? Like UCL aint the only uni in the world, I know its your dream uni. But sometimes you just need to accept that all dreams wont come true, and getting into UCL is not the only goal you should have. Life after Uni is the most crucial thing, so I would suggest you to apply for other reputed universities, and I hope you end up in a good university. Cheers

I can but I wanna go RG. RG outside of London seem to be more strict, requiring higher grades and such. Furthermore I can't move out of London, and theyr'e the only RG here pretty much.

try for UoL group. They are also highly reputed, as you have a restriction to stay in London only

Why? What do you think you would gain from attending a research intensive university to study English?
Look at the perfectly good non RG universities as an alternative. I think you will be pleasantly surprised

I don't want to pay so much money to have a degree from a non RG uni, to me personally uni is not about the experience it's but my career. Especially after wasting so much time, I don't want to go to an average uni.

That's a shame because I think this overlooks good universities and limits your options. Many employers will be looking at the grade of degree you get and your work experience rather than where you did the degree.

Why do you think that a RG degree in English would be more employable than one from a university focused on teaching instead of research?

Even within London/commutable distance City, Surrey, RHUL and QMUL all rank above UCL and KCL for employability for English.

RG is a totally artificial marketing concept thought up by a bunch of older Unis. It doesnt mean that they are better Unis or that you would automatically have a happier life or an astonishing successful career.

Give the A levels your best shot and think about it afterwards. The others are right RG means nothing at undergrad.Might be time to accept a place at a uni you can get into.
