upto a point.
I mean anyone that becomes really close friendwise with someone of the opposite sex will sooner or later become...confused as to the nature of the relationship.
yes...that is exactly what I meant to say.

friends yes.

best friends.....no.

Nope, cos if I were in a relationship with one of them, I would no dount ruin it, ergo ruin my friendship with said girl and therefore ruin my friendships with friends of said girl (which is just about everyone I know)

Mmm, i think its v dodgy. Probs over time that they cant simply remain as friends, esp if u get vv close. Recent example is my best friend. We'd been best friends since nursery, told each other everything etc, would go on double dates with our respective gf/bf. BUT this yr at new yrs eve his true feelings came tumbling out (thort he was just a bit pissed) but nxt day he told me everything. prob is i dont feel the same so its messed up the friendship somehow
:dito: - what do we do?

They can be friends up to a point, but if they're reeeeeeeally close then there's always something a little bit more to it than just friendship.

a girl can be 'just friends' with a guy
but a guy can never be 'just friends' with a girl (unless he's gay)

yes.

one of my best friends is a guy who used to have swimming trainings with me. he's now in Uni of Bath studying business and we've become closer friends than ever. But no sparks...though my ex used to always get jealous of him so i would avoid mentioning his name when my ex and i were still together. paranoid guys.

I have a theory about this.

I think girls can deal with having male friends with very few problems. However I think blokes can do too, but given the chance for more would often jump at the chance.

Sometimes blokes 'settle' for friends, particularly if it's someone they've got a soft spot for?

I do think that it is possible to have a purely platonic relationship between a guy and a girl.

well, I really doubt it, I think for a guy and a girl to become friends, there must be some kind of attraction (maybe not even noticed by both) and may likely to become something else,

Yeah they can, but it's always going to be highly likely that one will fall for the other at some point down the line.
i disagree with that, i have had a female friend for ages that i chat too, and shes ok for a laugh, but i could never feel much more for her
