What is a good MacBook for uni

I’m staring university course photograph in September and need computer what MacBook should I buy I want to spend maximum 500£

You should be able to find a used MacBook Air with M1 processor for around that price, although you may need to spend a little closer to £600 depending on what's available at the time. I really wouldn't recommend getting an Intel based model at this stage, but if you had to you could potentially look for an older Pro model with quad core processor from the 8th or 9th gens of processor (the first digit of the processor model will tell you the generation, for example a 9750H would be 9th gen), however I would wager that even the best Intel model you can find for under £500 will get destroyed by the M1 Air for not much more money.

Are you adamant on getting a Macbook? It might be better looking into different brands as I'd assume you'll be using a bunch of different software in your course

Photography is likely to be a course that favours OS X, if anything.
