Please help me Choose

Hi there, I hope you're doing well. I have just completed my 12th grade and I'm not sure which subjects or courses to choose for my university, or which university to attend. In 12th grade, I studied English, Information Technology, Economics, Business Studies, Physical Education, Painting, and Psychology. I'm interested in pursuing a major in English (since I write poetry and novels), Information Technology, Psychology, or Business Studies. Can you please help me choose what subjects to take and guide me on how to select the right major and university? Thank you!

Hi @Royani

I'd always advise you to choose subjects you enjoy. I've found choosing my favourite subjects at higher education has kept me more motivated and engaged in studying. For you, it sounds like English is a great choice as you clearly enjoy it.

If you have a specific career in mind, it might be worth looking into whether you need any specific subjects or qualifications to move forward. This could help your decision, but it's not always essential to choose your subjects based on your potential degree choice.

You could also consider which subjects you have done well in previously to help choose your best subjects.

Best of luck with your decision!

Hi @Royani,

I would definitely agree with Emily on making the decision. I think when you’re deciding on a course and you don’t really have any specific careers in mind that would dictate it, choose the course that you have the most interest and enjoyment in, or the one that you have the best grades in, which could be the same one. If you are studying something that you enjoy and don’t find too difficult, university will be a much better experience and you will probably have a higher degree classification as you’re bound to put more effort into your work.

Also have a look at the universities you would like to go to and the content of the courses that you’re considering. Does the content of one appeal more than the others?

I hope this helps,
Good luck with your decision making!
