What do you want to do with it? You mention differentiation - in which case why do you need to split it up further?

Its easy enough to see that -2sinh2x/(cosh2x)^2 can be split to -2sech2xtanhx but is there a method you can use to deduce this?

I still don't see your problem. The two are easily seen to be identical as you can divide one of the coshs into the sinh to get a tanh, and 1/cosh gives you the sech

if you differentiate y = -2sech2x.tanh2x
you get dy/dx = 2[cosh(4x)-3]sech³(2x)
