Failed A-Levels, what can I do now?

I took my A-levels a few years ago and ended with terrible grades (UUE). I was in a bad mental state at the time, but I'm better now and my goal is to get into university soon and get my life together. Next year I want to do A-levels again (but different subjects than last time).

Will my previous grades affect my application in any way, or will universities ignore it if I perform well on my new A-levels?

I want to get into the top unis, but I have no idea if it's even possible now after my previous A-level grades. Is it a waste of time to do new A-levels? Should I just give up, forget uni and do something else?

Sounds like you have a really good resolve, and it's great to hear you're doing better! I don't think your past grades will affect your application, maybe you might mention it in your personal statement and how you overcame it, but otherwise if you're planning on doing A-levels again, I'd imagine they will focus on your new predicted grades rather than your past ones. I retook year 12 after failing biology in Year 12, and now I'm at uni, so as long as you work hard, I don't see any reason to not go for it!
