A* star students

A level students what techniques did you guys use to get A*. I'm basically using blurting, mindmaps and doing practise questions would this be enough to get A*. I take sociology,politcs and history

Got an A* in politics in my last mock, honestly I found every single topic that could come up, revised the hell out of it (with planning practise questions and mindmaps etc) then I linked every topic to a recent event that happened in the news and did that until I was SURE I knew everything about the topic. Im sure there are easier ways of doing this though!
