Hi there,
Great to hear you are considering Loughborough 🙂
I have been at Loughborough for nearly 3 years so can give you some insight.
Sports- as you probably know Loughborough is one of the top Universities for sport so it can be pretty competitive to be selected for a team but there are so many different factors that come into this. I play netball for Loughborough and in my first year wasn't sure if I should trial- but I am so glad I did! Take a look at our
AU football page for more information. Alongside
AU (Athletic Union) we also have
IMS (Intra-Mural sport/hall sport) which is where you can play less competitively and represent your hall. This is a lot of fun and still a decent level of play. There are so many different sports you can get involved in and it gives you the opportunity to also try some new sports too.
Accommodation- I would say all the halls are mixed with genders and courses so you have the chance to meet lots of different people. Take a look at our
accommodation page. You can filter to see location (you may want to live in a certain area of campus depending on your course) and you can filter for self catered/catered.
Computer Science- Loughborough is 1st in the UK for overall satisfaction in Computer science (National Student Survey). More information about the department can be found
here. Although I don't study Computer science I have a few friends that do and they really enjoy it.
I have really enjoyed my time at Loughborough. I really like the fact it is a campus as everything is in one place. There is such a nice community at Loughborough and people are so friendly. I like the fact you will always see people around campus you know- it's hard to explain but its got a good vibe! There is always so much going on so there are so many opportunities to meet people outside of just lectures. I have met lots of friends through different things like sport (AU and IMS), my accommodation (not just my flat as there are so many events where you mix with the whole accommodation) and LSU events/
societies.
I hope that helps. If you have any other questions please do ask 🙂
Alex
