Biomedical Sciences

Need advice! So I already have an offer for Cardiff to study Biomedical Sciences but haven't accepted it yet. However, I have only recently realised that it isn't accredited by the IBMS. I'm aware that Cardiff Met does Biomedical Science that is actually accredited. I don't really mind which uni I would go to as they're both pretty much right next to each other.
If I did want to go to Cardiff Met what should I do? Gamble with clearing? Apply for a transfer during my first year?

IBMS accreditation is required to become a Biomedical Scientist.

Assuming that the accreditation is a must for you then yes, clearing would be your option. I would not recommend a transfer. Although, Cardiff Metropolitan University isn't particularly high-ranked. There will be higher-ranked universities offering Biomedical Science through clearing however the choice is ultimately yours.

I'm studying Biomedical Science at an IBMS-accredited university. If you have any questions let me know

Hello there,

We are not sure if Cardiff University is not IBMS accredited, but it would be worth to email them and find out.

If you have not used all the five choices on UCAS, you can add Cardiff Met as another choice. If you have used up to five choices, then you can go through UCAS Extra. But you have to decline all your offer, and add Cardiff Met as an extra choice. Please note that you are unable to reverse back to the old offers. Please have a look here: UCAS Extra | No Offers? Add More Choices With Our 'Extra' Service.

Should you have any questions, please drop us an email via [email protected].

Cardiff Met Admissions. 😄
