University of Aberdeen vs Strathclyde for Computer Science

Hi,

I've received offers from University of Aberdeen and Strathclyde for Computer Science, and not sure which to choose.

The University of Aberdeen course offers 1 year industry placement, compared to Strathclyde offering 3 months over the summer.

Strathclyde teaches Java in first year compared to Aberdeen introducing it in second year (Python 1st year).

Any Opinions?

Ive just finished my first year studying computing at strath... and let's just say its not the best there's like 5 different modules. one of them all you do is write essays, one you have to complete like random projects, ones maths, only 2 you actually have to code.

Hi, this is the University of Aberdeen rep account. Congratulations on both your offers! Just wanted to come in with some general advice which I hope will be useful, and if you want to know more information about our Computing Science course let me know and I'll get you some more information.

I would recommend having a look around this site for students of each of the unis you have offers from to see what the general consensus is.
It's also worth thinking about the cities and what appeals to you. Do you want to be close to or far away from home, do you want to be in a big or small city, are there things/places in that city that you're interested in or will be good for any hobbies you have; those sorts of factors should definitely be on your mind as well as the actual courses of each of the universities.
Then it would be worth having a look on each of our websites to see what appeals to you about the courses eg. course content, projects you will get to do through your degree, prospects upon graduation, that sort of thing. It sounds like you've done this already so great that you're doing your research.

I hope this information has been useful and all the best with coming to a decision!
