Southampton or Cardiff for psychology?

Hi everyone, I'm stuck between both of these unis for psychology this year. I have unconditional offers for both so it's completely down to which I choose.

I went to the Southampton offer holder day last weekend. I liked the campus and the course looked really interesting, you get to choose your modules even in first year, the range of options is so diverse which really appeals. There's also an option for doing a semester abroad which I think I'd really enjoy. I couldn't make it to the Cardiff offer holder day which is really annoying I like the campus there too, but the course offers less choice when it comes to modules. I know both unis are very similarly perceived academically so that doesn't really affect my choice.

Cardiff looks cheaper and I think has a slightly better student life but Southampton still is good for value and student life, if any students at these unis could tell me more that would be great too. I like both cities, Cardiff a bit more but I still liked Southampton when I went. Southampton is an hour closer to where my boyfriend is going so that is obviously a pro. But Cardiff also looks great. I'm so stuck!!

I would go to Cardiff and see the university for yourself, even if it is outside an offer holder day, to make your decision easier. And, how important is the variety of the course for you? Would the modules you'd pick in Southampton be broadly similar to what Cardiff offers?

And don't consider distance to your boyfriend as a factor. In fact, I'd classify proximity as a con for Southampton. I lived relatively close by to my ex during her first year of university and the result was that we could easily see each other and she ended up not developing that much her social life around there, which is just terrible. Don't forget to live life independently from your partner!

Scotland Yard gave really good points there. Cardiff's next open days are unfortunately in July, which will be after the deadline to make your choices. I'd say, think about what you would have wanted to get from an open day.

If its to see the campus, the uni offers a self-guided campus tour. University libraries are usually open to the public as well as some other buildings, so its worth considering if you wanted to have a look around. Nice day out as well!

If you wanted to chat to a member of staff about anything there's a live chat function here. And if you wanted to chat to a psychology student - I'm around on TSR so let me know if you had any questions and I'd be happy to answer them! Otherwise, there are also other psychology students on a platform called Unibuddy if you wanted to collate different views.
