dont want to go to trent

so i've firmed ntu because it was the best of my options for me, but i don't want to go. my other option was uni of reading, but i didn't like the campus- found it a bit depressing and boring, so chose ntu. however i can't handle the reputation, now i've started telling people i'm going ntu i'm getting hit with the 'why on earth would you go there' and it's making me actually sick. im also terrified i wont fit in there because im not the stereotypical 'party' type AT ALL and i've been bullied by these types of people before for being a neek or whatever. idek what to do, i'm so terrified of the type of people at ntu being the type to bully me. should i even be going to uni atp?

Hi, I'm not a huge partier either, there are a diverse range of students in Trent and if u join a society in the first year for an interest of yours or your culture, you will defo find like-minded people, they may have drinking events but dont feel pressured. Not everyone in uni is the same, and I can only speak for the arts courses but the uni is quite excellent in those subjects, don't bother with what other people say. Having lived in notts for a long time I can say there's a good uni life outside of partying and there are cute cafes, vintage stores and other things you can get involved with. I'm not going to say it doesn't come with challenges though, sadly majority of uni students aren't concerned with the uni but rather the nightlife but I hope you realise you aren't alone in these thoughts!

Hi ngl I'm not much of the party type and drinking type myself and I too am still a little anxious and at first I was also worried about trying to fit in the drinking and party culture trent has but seeing a couple of societies and talking to a few freshers it's safe to say that not everyone is the same and realistically we're all in the same boat meaning even if you might not meet people at the local pubs or party's there are other things such as joining a society of your interest to meet like-minded people. Plus this goes for all unis as every uni has its own drinking and party culture no matter where you look. Hmu if you wanna talk or be friends.

How comes you preferred Trent to Reading? If you care about reputation then it seems like Reading would have been the much better choice since it’s pretty good in Rankings (normally floats around the 30’s) and also Reading students don’t have that stereotype. I see you don’t like the campus but I thought it was pretty good and not depressing at all 😭😭
