Hey, one of my mates is doing a chemistry module in his Geography course and we're both rusty...

"How many grams of Sodium Chloride (NaCl) is necessary to prepare 236 ml of 2.00 M sodium chloride solution?"

Any help appriciated.

moles of solute = concentration (here = 2) x volume (in dm3, here = 0.236)
moles of solute = 2 x 0.236 = 0.472

moles(0.472) = mass (g)/ molar mass (58.5)
mass = 0.472 x 58.5 = 27.612g

hope that helps
