Uni offers with one A-level completed in Y12

I am currently doing History, Politics and Criminology in school and Russian outside. I am taking my Russian A-level this summer. I am seriously considering dropping Criminology as firstly we have had two different teachers who were completely lost and it is not a proper A-level (it's a level 3 diploma, A-level equivalent, basically another name for BTEC). I regret choosing it but my sixth form talked me into doing it, I do not need it for the things I plan to do in the future as well.

I am planning to get A/A* in Russian but how would university offers work if I already have 1 A level from Year 12, and would they care if I already had one and not did all 3 in Year 13? I don't know if this matters but I am probably going to apply mostly to mid tier unis.

Uni offers are typically based on doing all the level 3 qualifications in the same year. You should check with their admissions departments

Really depends on the uni.

Some have no qualms about it. Others are fine with it (provided you got a high grade) and a (really small) minority may have issues with it. Best to check their website or call them and ask.

Hi, have you applied to university now? I am thinking of doing the same thing as I am doing Russian as my fourth subject and taking it in year 12. I want to carry on with Russian and drop one of my other subjects. Were the unis fine with this?
