LIPA responses

Anyone auditioned for Acting musical theatre course at LIPA - have you received offers from them yet? I auditioned in January and still haven’t heard back - trying to treat it as a good sign but getting increasingly more nervous now as to the outcome of the audition

Hiya! I’ve seen someone say on one of the other threads on here that the majority of the responses for the BA courses go out once they’ve done all of the auditions, which should most likely be in the next few weeks (this is just a guess from me but I personally don’t see the auditions going on much longer). Best of luck! x

Hi there, my daughter auditioned Jan 10 - first and second round and interview. She has not heard yet. Very frustrating.

I auditioned for a music course in February and haven't heard either. As far as I understand the majority of people haven't heard unless they auditioned in December - could be wrong though. I think they maybe wait until they've auditioned everyone, although this is annoying considering their website says they aim to respond in 2-3 weeks which is clearly not true.

Similar situation for us here too for music. Initially I was annoyed my daughter had done her UCAS so late but really glad now that she did! She auditioned 27th march but her friends way back early Feb. All of them still waiting. I called them they said they were holding auditions till end April. So now they are done they have to chat and discuss. Whoever I spoke with on the phone said they had to make sure it was a diverse and varied group.
I'd like to think it will be next week but wouldn't be surprised if it was the week after, just before the UCAS deadline when they have to make offers.
That's what happened to a girl who got offered from my daughter's college last year.

I believe LIPA first round offers went out 3-4 weeks ago, including notification of being on the reserve list. This is when my daughter received hers for Acting and so did 2 others she met at the audition and recall in January, 1 offer and 1 on reserve list.

Those on reserve will move to an offer as students decline offers, obviously but it is worth knowing that if they receive their last decision on or before 16 May 2024, their reply date is 6 June 2024 but if they receive their last decision on or before 17 July 2024, their reply date is 24 July 2024. Those offers remain open for those students the whole time as they cannot accept an offer until all decisions are in.

It is frustrating all round as some places make very slow decisions and it has a knock on effect on that student and others. My daughter was being held up making a decision on her offers by one place that was even slower than LIPA. In the end, she withdrew her application for that place so that she could accept one of her offers.

I know some students have also received rejections, so I think if you do not have a decision, that is potentially good news as it means you are still in the game!

I hope this helps and good luck everyone!

Was that for Acting MT? Can I ask how long ago did she do her audition? And was it an email she received or just an update on UCAS?

My daughter got an email saying she was on reserve list at the end of March and then got an unconditional offer on Thursday (her audition was 23rd Feb.) It’s nerve wracking but things do seem to be moving now so hope you get the result you want, and soon!

Thank you! And to yours! Reserve list is a massive achievement with the tiny amount of places vs huge number of applicants. This is her second year applying so the experience has definitely been a massive bonus this time round. Fingers crossed for you x

Thank you! We are still waiting to hear from LIPA. Cutting it right down to the wire! I hope they do respond one way or another rather than nothing at all. But daughter has already decided she wants to go to GSA for foundation - but she wants to know how she got on with LIPA to gauge her first year of applying - as with doing foundation she will of course have to go through all of this again!

I know - it’s so stressful. Sorry, my mistake. GSA foundation is awesome! Especially first year applying. Wishing her all the luck x
