Mature student student finance question

Hello,

I am a mature student in my 30s. I will be applying for Uni next year and wonder what sort of student finance I would be entitled to (I hear all sorts of conflicting accounts online).

I moved back home with my parents for doing my current Level 3 access course, and I do not work at all so I could focus on my education.

Since I live with parents, will their income be assessed for my claim? Again, I have 0 income myself.

Thanks!

Hi there. If you are over 25, we don't take parental income into account as you are classed as independent, but you would be on the parental home rate for the Maintenance Loan since you aren't living in your own home. Thanks, Leah.

I would be moving away to uni, does that change the parental home rate?

I won’t be living at home while studying at Uni. I am just wondering about what I put in the calculator for annual household income. I assume by your answer I put it as 0, since I have no income and my parents income is not contributing?

Thanks for the response!

If you won't be living at your parental home then you would be on the elsewhere rate.

Yes, the income would be £0 unless you will be living with a partner, or have any unearned income. Thanks, Leah.
