QMUL vs Brunel - Msc Finance & Investment

Hello,

This is my first ever question here, wanted to opinion and reviews from y'all about which uni to choose, Queen Mary University of London (Conditional offer) - Msc Finance or Brunel University London (Waiting for offer) for Msc in Finance and Investment, though the structure is very similar, I personally like Brunel's course structure more, but the ranking and the 'Russel Group' factor kicks in and idk if it's really worth the tuition fee. I also have other offers such as University of Hertfordshire, University of Greenwich / Westminster but i don't think I would choose any of them, I was rejected by Middlesex and University of Surrey.

Which university should I prefer?
(As I'm an international student and also self-funded, please factor things like - part-time opportunities, rent and other expenses, job after graduation, etc.)

Thanks in advance!
Hey @fr33kkz 🙂

Congrats on receiving some offers!

Completely understand your thought process. Studying a Masters is hard enough and being an international student isn't exactly easy either, so I'm glad you're carefully considering your options.

Just to highlight some things about studying MSc Finance and Investment Banking at Herts:

When you study with us you get a head start to becoming a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) with teaching material based on the level 1 and 2 curriculum

We're proud to be ranked 2nd in the UK overall Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES, Advance HE, 2023)

1st for Skills Development, 2nd for Support, Resources, Community and Assessment (Advance HE, 2023)

We're also not far from London! A 25 minute train will take you directly to Hatfield from Central London. The area is a lot more affordable than London too so once you decide to launch your career in the big city, it won't be too hard to get there!

Hope this helps, we're wishing you the best throughout our decision making and future studies 🙂

Hi @fr33kkz

Great to hear you're considering Brunel London as an option for studying your MSc in Finance and Investment.

If you choose to study your Finance and Investment MSc at Brunel you can take advantage of the opportunity to follow the CFA Program (Chartered Financial Analyst) specialist pathway and gain the skills required to complete the Level I CFA Program exam. Our programme is also accredited by CIMA offering exemptions to some of their professional papers depending on your module choices.

You can choose to study one year full-time, two years full-time with a year's work placement or 16 months full-time with a 6-12 week work placement. These work placements give you a great opportunity to experience real life settings and network with giants in the industry! Many students return to their placement settings once they've graduated.

In terms of our campus there's lots to get involved with including amazing sports facilities (we have over 150 sports clubs and societies), eating spots and great student support services, theres a real community feel on campus

Travel links are also great - we're just 20 mins from Heathrow and 40 mins from central London!

Hope that helps and I wish you lots of luck with your decision,

If you have any more questions - please reach out,
