How to convert camcorder tapes

Hi Folks

I have some HI 8 camcorder tapes which I would like to put on another storage medium.

Can you kindly suggest anything?

If you have a camcorder or tape player with video output, there are lots of cheap options on Amazon just from searching "hi 8 tape to digital converter" that combine an analogue>USB adaptor and software that can record the feed from the adaptor. If you don't have a device to play the tapes on then you either have to track one down in working condition (potentially time consuming and the risk of picking up a dud), pick up a built-for-purpose analogue>digital converter that can accommodate the tapes (usually expensive but you can potentially recoup the costs by reselling), or send them off to a service that digitises old media (likely to be a bit cheaper than buying a dedicated player but more expensive than a cheap converter, and potentially better quality final output).
