Should I get my art GCSE remarked ? ( fairly urgent :)

Hiya,
So I got my GCSE art grade back today (marked by my teachers before it gets sent to the exam board ) and I was quite disappointed with my grade a I got a six according to last years grade boundaries when I was hoping for a 7 or 8. (I have achieved higher grades in all my mocks so far .)
I achieved 100/120 for component one which is a solid seven but I only got 56/80 for component two which is a five. This really surprises me as I thought the ten hour assessment went well?
So i need 6 more marks overall to move up to a grade 7 according to last year and I have five days to decide if I want a remark. do you think it is worth the try? Considering I could also move down :/
Thanks for any help

I would say if you feel like you didn't get the marks you deserved and didn't reflect previous exams, get it remarked. You already got a good grade, so great job. But worst case scenario you resit the exam at some point. Hope this helps 😊

If you’re confident that your work deserves more marks, definitely get a remark. Was this the grade awarded by the exam board? If so, you can ask your teacher for advice!

This was the mark given by my school to be sent to the exam board, I will try asking my teacher for advise before I decide ,but I think I’ll probably go for the remark , thanks again for responding : D

How likely is it that your grade could go down (I.e. are you 20 marks off of a grade five or 2 marks off of a grade five) if you're really far off of a grade 5, then 100% you should get it remarked because it's extremely unlikely that your grade will go down. I would weigh up how far off of a 7 you are with how far off of a 5.

I'd say go for it, if you feel like your marks don't reflect your work and effort then do it, however, there is always the odd chance that it could be remarked and you lose a few marks from the new marker, maybe they take away a mark that they don't feel like you deserve in their eyes, very cruel, but it does happen. The worst that could happen is you lose a few but i highly doubt it, i'd say go for it, if your teacher thinks so too then i'd definitely get it remarked.

I'd say there's no problem with bringing it up with your teacher and seeing what they can do . However, just remember that the mark your teacher gives to the exam board might not end up being the final mark as an examiner will come in and take a look at everyone's art. They could also bring the marks up or down. I remember I think it was my portfolio where my score ended up changing slightly on results day compared to the mark my teacher gave me. Either way, good luck, and I hope you get the grade you want

Hi there, what did your teacher say and what did you decide in the end? My cousin's in a similar position right now, doing the Edexcel gcse art.
