Taxi/Uber/Rideshare Services in Lancaster/Morecambe

I'll be going to Lancaster on exchange and living in Morecambe. I was wondering, how do people get around in Lancashire? I know bus routes are pretty good, but are ubers or taxis common in the area as well?

Hi there!

Congrats on your acceptance to Lancaster! I would say that most people do use the bus to get around Lancaster and get to campus. But it is possible to use taxis as well. We do have Uber but I've found they take quite a long time to book one. For taxis, it would be good to have the numbers of a few local taxi companies on hand if you intend to use them.

Hi Anon,
The buses in Lancaster tend to be quite good, and there is a direct bus from Morecambe to the university. Also, it might be cheaper to buy a bus pass dependent how long you are on exchange for and how frequently you plan on using the bus. I'd also recommend finding a few local Lancaster taxi firm numbers as back up.
