URGENT: Message to Hiring Manager

I am a student currently who is currently trying to apply for a nursing apprenticeship. The application in online through 'Easy Apply' and I'm required to write a message to the hiring manager (I think instead of the cover letter). It's supposed to be have a minimum of 500 words but I'm not exactly sure what I should put in.

Could someone please give me some advice? The application is due in less than a week..

does it have any other information or does it just say "write a message to the hiring manager"
