CCEA English Literature Poetry AS

Currently preparing for my drama and poetry AS paper and I am lost on how to revise for the poetry section. We are doing Heaney and Frost, there are around 24 poems in total and I'm struggling as writing essays over and over again feels useless.

Any advice on how to efficiently revise the poetry content?

Look at the past papers no focus on the poems which haven’t come up yet. Learn plenty of context

Hey @kxdimustdie,

As olph suggested above, spend some time learning context for both Heaney and Frost. Make sure to understand how that context relates back to each poet - for example, The Conway Stewart reflecting Heaney's childhood and grammar school education.

Instead of writing out essays, try to actively recall what you know about each poem. Find an unannonated copy of each and annotate it without referencing your notes; write a brief summary of the poem's overall meaning and any key literary techniques used throughout it.

Hope this was helpful and best of luck with your AS Poetry exam!
