How to make friends as a teen going to a new school?

I'm going into a new school at a later year group so I want to make good friends as most people would have made their friends and everything but dont want to end up in a friendship where you are at the side. any tips for making friends in a school where you know practically nobody? should i join local clubs around the area or what? thx :smile:

Hi! I think joining local clubs would be a great way to make friends when you don't know anybody. This way you can meet people with similar interests as you.

Another thing I would say is, while at school during lunch or any breaks that you have if you see someone sitting alone don't be afraid to go up to them. I'm almost 100% sure that they'd appreciate it.
