Study Skills Advice for A Levels from a University of Sheffield Biochemistry Student

Hi Everyone!
With A Levels fast approaching, I thought I would share some things that I found useful when I was doing my A Levels. I am currently a 3rd year Biochemistry student at the University of Sheffield. I did Chemistry, Biology and Psychology at A Level.

1) Make a revision plan: Being organised is key to success. Planning out the amount of revision you have to do is very helpful. I made a big colourful poster and stuck it on my wall.

2) Mix up your study spaces: having a change of scene can be very helpful and refresh your brain! Try a new cafe or work in a different study space at school.

3) Try explaining what you are learning to a friend: explaining a concept to a friend/ family member can help boost your own understanding and will help you to identify gaps in your knowledge.

4) Use active recall methods: set a timer for 5 minutes and write down everything you know about that topic on a page. After 5 minutes, go back and see what you missed. You can then focus your revision on these specific areas.

I hoped this helped and I wish you all the best of luck with your upcoming exams

I also really recommend the stationery brand Noted Society for taking more effective note taking!! It also really helped getting out of my study slump because of how cute that stationery was
