Following a lot of questions about Kingston’s art foundation year at the open day last Saturday, I thought I would do a blog to recap some information!
Here at Kingston we offer a foundation year that covers a wide variety of skills and subjects to use those skills towards.
On this foundation year you will get the chance to do a four week rotation trying different elements. With guidance from tutors, not only will you get a feel for Kingston as a university but you’ll get to be in a creative, diverse environment which is super beneficial!
From architecture to graphic design a foundation year can also be super helpful if you know you want to do a creative course but you’re not 100% on what it is exactly you want to do! Sometimes foundation years can feel limited to fine art but here at Kingston there is the opportunity to explore a number of different routes and you may even come out of the year wanting to do something along the lines of furniture design!
Not only will you get to develop and broaden your skill set, but a foundation year is also the chance to try uni out! You can of course commute in a foundation year but you are able to apply for accommodation and get the feel for living away from home! On top of this you’ll get the chance to meet a number of people in the same position as you and make friends that will become course mates during your degree!
To apply to the foundation year you will need to submit a portfolio the guidelines of which can be found on the Kingston website!
If you have any questions feel free to comment them !
