Proving Residency Status (Non-EU resident)

I filled out the PN1 23/24 form back in March and I have Settled Status not granted under the EUSS (EU Settlement Scheme), and I'm also trying to apply for maintenance loan. I have a ILR card but I've unfortunately lost the ILR status letter. I've been granted Settled Status since May 2023. I'm writing a cover letter at the moment, but is it possible for Student Finance to conduct a Home Office Check? And do I need to send my ILR card? Because I urgently need it as I am moving house in June.

In addition, I was mistakenly sent an EUPR1a form for 24/25 despite I'm not an EU national (I'm a non-EU resident). Is it possible for Student Finance to cancel my current application for 24/25 and start a new 24/25 application as a home student? I would also like to get maintenance loan for the 24/25 academic year as a home student.

Regards,
Azizi.

Hi Azizi,

On public forum we do not have account access unfortunately. If you sent the incorrect application and require it to be cancelled you can try and cancel it online. If you are unable to cancel this online for your EU application you can call 0141 243 3570 and they'd be able to cancel the application.

Regarding your evidence, what Nationality are you? Do you have a UK Passport?

Thanks, Ross

My nationality is Malaysia and I have a Malaysian passport, but I have ILR since May 2023, and I've lost the Home Office ILR letter. I have settled status but not under the EU Settlement Scheme. Because I urgently need it as I am moving house in June. Do I need to send a cover of my ILR card or I have to send the actual card itself?

I assume it's your Biometric Residence Card. We need the original card so we can not accept a copy unfortunately.

You can send the card, with your Passport and the cover letter.

Since I've lost the BRP letter, are you able to do a Home Office check for me?

Yes, I do. So I should basically send a cover letter, BRP card and my passport through the post? How long will the process take? Because I need my passport and BRP card as I'm about to move house in June.

Hi there,

We can hold documents for up to 6 weeks but try to process them and return them sooner.

Thanks,

Since I’ve lost my ILR letter (I have the BRP card) is it possible if you could please do a Home Office check on my behalf?

Hi Azizi,

We'll need to see some kind of original ID from you, like your ILR card. A Home Office check won't prove your identity, unfortunately.

It may be worth sending this after June, especially if you need if for moving house. We'll also return your ID to you using recorded delivery.

Thanks, Graeme

So all I need to send is the PN1 form, my ILR card and my Malaysian passport?

I've informed the Immigration Advice team at my university about my situation that I can't provide my ILR letter. So, if I send in my application, can you also do a Home Office check (or Immigration History check with UKVI) using my passport and ILR card?
Hi Azizi23,

If you send us your HOBRC we won't need to request a Home Office check as this should confirm your status in the UK

Thanks,
Calum

Just to confirm, HOBRC stands for the ILR BRP card right?

Since I've already sent in my PN1 form, passport and ILR card, do I also need to send a cover letter explaining that I've lost my PN1 form?
Hi there,

What do you mean you have lost your PN1 form when you have said you already posted it?

Thanks, Drew
