Condensed hours on psychology

Can anyone please let me know if any of the first year psychology courses condense teaching hours to say two or three days so that you can have two days working? I will need to work so just wondering. I’m particularly interested in Leeds, Bath and Sheffield. TIA

I don’t know, I’ve never heard of a university do this other than OU.

Maybe someone else can offer better advice though

Hi there! 😁

I can completely understand your concerns regarding needing to work alongside your degree. I'm currently a BSc Psychology student at the University of Bath, and I come from a low income background, so money is a real concern for me. However, I've found a few ways to help!

Unfortunately, the teaching here isn't condensed to two/three days, and is usually spread out across the week. However, the university offers a lot of different opportunities for work, which is flexible and which you can work around your timetable. For example, you can work at one of the cafes/shops on campus, or you can take on various ambassador roles, such as an Outreach Ambassador (where you do campus tours and help out on school visits to the university) or a Subject Ambassador (where you help out at open days), or even become a TSR (The Student Room) Ambassador (plus so much more!). The jobs are also well paid, around the national living wage.

Working for the university has been so much easier than working elsewhere, as they appreciate that you are a full-time student and you're able to work whenever you want/can!

If you're a widening participation student, there's also a few different scholarships/bursaries that you might be eligible for. These include the Gold Scholarship Programme (I'm a Gold Scholar myself!) and the Bath Bursary. These provide financial support to you for the entirety of your degree! You can find out more about the scholarships/bursaries that we have to offer here: https://www.bath.ac.uk/topics/undergraduate-scholarships-bursaries-and-other-funding/

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions 😊
