When do I change address?

So we're moving house and just got the keys but we won't be moving in until a couple of weeks time cos we're renovating it first. When do I change address for everything? Can I do it now or do I have to wait until we've moved in as we're currently living elsewhere until the moving day

If your post went to your new address now, whilst you're not living there, would you have easy access to it - perhaps by popping round every few days to collect it? If so, then informing companies now would seem the sensible thing to do.

If you wait until you've actually moved, some mail is bound to go to your old address - which might be difficult to access.

Note that the Royal Mail have a service where they'll redirect your mail to your new address - for a fee.

Yes I'd have access to post if I changed the address because my family is going to be in and out of there until we move cos of doing renovations and they can get my letters if there are any, I won't be ordering anything online until I've moved so no parcels will be going to new house and I'm not really expecting any post to come to where I'm currently at unless i order something online which I won't be doing unless I know it will be delivered within a few days, not moving until next month so a week or 2 before I won't order anything incase it don't come before moving cos delivery is 2-7 days for most places unless I ordered from abroad which could be months which I don't really do
