Hi @LucyR24 (and @RationalFish ),

I can try give you some insight into these halls. Both Telford and Falk Egg are one of our most affordable halls and I would say are both good value for money. They are both sociable and have good community spirit.

Falk Egg is located in the Central Park. It sits on the edge of campus but it is close to lecture halls and is not too far to walk to other parts of campus such as the library and the gym (some parts of campus will be a bit of a walk but you can always use the free campus shuttle). The interiors have recently been refurbished so it is pretty modern. Falk Egg is our largest self-catered hall so is very sociable and gives you the opportunity to meet lots of people. However, you are not very close to other halls like you are in Telford.

Telford is located in the Student Village. This is a nice location as you are surrounded by lots of different accommodations so it is bust and sociable (you may also be close to other friends in different halls). It is very close to the library and everything is pretty much walking distance. The rooms have a sink which is useful when sharing a bathroom.

If you are considering doing IMS, Telford is well known for its sporting legacy but Falk Egg is also good competition so both halls would allow you to play at a decent level.

I would recommend looking at the map on the accommodation website or the map on each hall page to look at how close the hall is to locations you think you will spend a lot of time at e.g will you want to be really close to the library/specific sporting facilities?

I hope this helps. If you any other questions please do ask 🙂

Alex

Thank you so much for your reply Alex, that's really helpful
Also, I am a bit concerned as I am not a sporty person, do you think I will still fit in at Loughborough? I know it has a reputation of being the 'sporty uni'. Thanks!

Hi @LucyR24 ,

No problem I am glad I could help 🙂

Loughborough is obviously a great place to come to if you are sporty but you will definitely still fit in as Loughborough offers so much more then just sport. I honestly would not worry, from my experience of being here I would say there is such a mix of sporty and 'not so sporty' people and I think that is really nice as there are no expectations to be sporty here (which people may not expect!). Even just going to watch sport games socially with friends is great fun and the atmosphere on campus is amazing- there is a real buzz!

There are also different levels of sport allowing you to try new things if you want. If you are interested in doing some sport but not too competitively I would recommend looking at IMS- this is when you can represent your hall and can try so many different sports. This is a great way to do some kind of sport at Loughborough and meet people too.

We also have a long list of societies you can join so there really is something for everyone!

I hope that puts you at ease 🙂 Anything else, I am happy to help.

Alex

Thank you.
Can I also ask if there's any ways to get in contact with other prospective candidates?

Hi @RationalFish ,

There is a forum called 'Official Loughborough University Offer Holders Thread for 2024 entry' which may be helpful.

Hope that helps 🙂

Hi

How many people typically share the bathrooms in Telford? i.e how many people per bathroom? Can you also give a bit more details about Telford. I am going to do mechanical engineering.

Thanks

Hi there,

In Telford there tends to be 6-8 people per flat sharing 1 kitchen and there are usually 2 toilets and 2 showers in each flat. Communal bathrooms and toilet facilities are cleaned by staff multiple times a week so this is something you don't need to worry about (which is quite nice!) All rooms have a sink which is also very useful. Telford will also be a good location for your course as it is one of the closest accommodations to West Park where Engineering is based and it is also very close to the library.

More information about Telford can be found here.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions I can help with 🙂
