How could I become a teacher?

I want to become a teacher but I only have GCSEs and a level 3 qualification in software development how could I possibly go around this and what is the best route to take to get into teaching?

Hi @Ak7527

I am almost certain that you would need a degree to be a teacher. Depending on what kind of teacher you want to be, you can either qualify after a three-year bachelor's degree (with QTS), or you will have to do another year of training (some can be paid) after your degree.

For example, at BCU, we offer BA Primary Education (QTS), BA Secondary PE (QTS), and BSc Secondary Science (Biology) (QTS). All of these courses allow you to qualify as a teacher after three years.

There are a few different bursaries available to those training to be a teacher in particular subjects too, so look out for those!
