why is he giving me the cold shoulder randomly

i met this guy in uni and developed a thing for him but ofc never told him. we get along well and have a lot in common, we would get the train together, and hung out a couple of times.
he hasnt been in the whole of second half of semester after reading week and never showed up again. uni is now finished and i message him. he said he was going through something and couldnt be in and then 1 month later i ask him to meetup. he then completely gives me the cold shoulder and leaves me on delivered. i see he is posting stuff on his social media and ignoring me completely. he doesnt even view MY story. i havent done anything to him, we ended on good terms and i helped him with his assignment. and for some weird reason he is airing me out of nowhere i dunno why.
he has turned from nice to evil in the span of 2 months.
i dont know what to do- i'm thinking of messaging him again in a while to leave a gap so i dont seem clingy and stuff but idk.

personally i’d say leave him to it now. he’s made his choice to not respond to you. if he eventually reaches out to you, express how you felt about his actions

Message him once more. Be straight forward and ask him why he hasn't replied to you. Let him know that you feel discarded and would like some clarification. I understand he might be going through something but communication is important. If his reply is vague then forget about him and move on. If his reply is genuine you can work on that.
