Is University of Glasgow halls accommodation guaranteed in your first year?

I'm accepting the offer, will meet and apply for my accommodation before July.

However, I'm not too sure of if I'll get halls or not. That's why I'm wondering if it's guaranteed or not.
Plus, I have two more questions:

- does your undergraduate subject have correlation to your place in accommodation (medical, economics, maths students having an advantage)?
- Is it first come, first served (Whoever applies first will have an advantage, or someone who applies just before 1st July)?

Hi there,

The University's accommodation guarantee for undergraduate students is as follows:

As an undergraduate you are guaranteed an offer of accommodation if:

•

You are new to study at the University of Glasgow and do not require family accommodation; and

•

Your online accommodation application is received by 14 July in the year of entry to University; and

•

You have met your conditions of entry and your study status is UF (Unconditional Firm) by 25 August in the year of entry to University; and

•

You are studying for the full academic year, commencing in September in year of entry.

In years of exceptionally high demand, students who live within a reasonable commuting distance (c. 1 hour via public transport) will not be offered accommodation until a room becomes available. This may be after the start of the semester.

Your undergraduate subject will not impact your accommodation offer in any way.
Generally the university recommend getting your application in as soon as possible to increase your chances of receiving your first choice of accommodation, but as per the accommodation guarantee, you will be offered accommodation as long as you apply by the deadline.
