Bankside accoms

Will more bankside accommodation become available in the future? I do not have bankside accommodation available and should I wait for late summer when some might become available? Or is that risky and I should maybe apply for the available halls - international hall, nutford house, sidney webb

all that is shown is all that is available unfortunately. apart from if someone decides not to do accomodation and cancels, any available accommodation would be known on results day because those who don't get the grades would compromise their room space. i contacted the accommodation office about this, and typically, they allocate the remaining spaces to second-year students and they're not permitted to maintain a waiting list for first-years, so they advise against waiting until results day. therefore, i would suggest applying for the available ones. although it's frustrating that they're not more cooperative and unable to inform you if a room becomes available, i suppose it's to prevent an influx of inquiries. i'm not too sure on how flexible they are about booking accomodation now and then cancelling it on results day if another comes up but i have booked mine and you don't put a deposit down (so i assume dont officially enter a contract) until august anyway. let me know how you get along i hope it all works out for you!

The way I got my Bankside room last year (2023-2024) was after the 2023 influx of students which meant I wasn't provided with my guaranteed campus accommodation. Online communication is really tough and I found that it was difficult to get tangible results from it all so after about another month of not being able to find anything (and travelling from home in another city) I decided to go in person to accommodations around about in the area.

When I went to Bankside I spoke with office workers Nicolas and Jason, some of the most lovely, understanding and cooperative people I've ever met and over the year I stayed there I became friends with them. I just simply introduced myself and verbally explained my situation briefly and asked whether, "they have any rooms available/empty at all?".

They talked me through the different price ranges and the rooms that were available and I ended up getting an absolutely beautiful room. So don't worry too much, I was a seemingly impossible situation and I ended up with something. There's *always* going to be enough accommodation for sure, in campus too, it's just I was looking for the fastest move-in date and Bankside was my lucky charm.

You mentioned International House, I'll actually be living there next year. This time they kept their promise to me lol.
Good luck with everything, keep trying and pressing and you'll 100% get something!

Hiya, it's so worth just calling the Surrey Accommodations phone number (if you just search that online it'll give you the contact details for sure) and if you're swift, you'll likely get something! If you have a larger price bracket and can go for private accoms outside campus you can read my other reply in this thread if you like.

Hi thanks for the help! What do you mean by Surrey accommodation because when I looked it up i just found accommodation for university of Surrey. Also when you said you went into the accommodations in person, do you mean the lse halls or private accommodations?

Hey, no worries! By the Surrey Accommodations phone number I meant this phone number (+44 (0)1483 682466_ which you can find through this link as well ... Contact Us - Accommodation | MySurrey ...
In terms of the accommodation/s I went to in person. I went in person to private accommodations, to their offices, and spoke to the office workers to inquire for availabilities. In the same way, I spoke with Surrey Staff through the phone number I mentioned earlier in this post, about availabilities on campus. Hope this helps!
