Cardiff Requirements

How lenient are Cardiff uni with their grades? I’ve applied for politics but want to switch to history. My offer was ABB, but the history requirements are BBB. I think I’m going to get around BCC, maybe even CCC. If I call them on results day do you think they’ll let me switch, and get in?

If you want to switch courses, ask now, don't ask for Results Day.

Hi there! I'd agree with the above comment, it is better to ask and see what they say sooner rather than later 🙂 You can contact the admissions team on the Ask A Question page on the University site.

When it comes to offers, sometimes grade offers may be lowered due to contextual information or if you've done an EPQ. When it comes to grades you get after results day though, I'm unsure. I think my best advice would just be to try your best in the exams and see what happens on results day. Sorry, I know that might not be too helpful!

Hi there,

To reflect the comments above, if you're certain that you'd like to switch, it's worth asking now. But if you're just nervous because you're unsure if you will receive the required grades, then I'd recommend waiting and calling in on results day to see what spaces they have left.

However, I'm a final year international relations student so have studied many politics modules, if you have any questions then let me know

I hope that makes sense!

Hiya,

The grade requirements for 2025 entry for the politics course is ABB - BBC, depending on contextual data and if you've done an EPQ/what grade you got in the EPQ. Since we're student ambassadors, we can't really speculate whether you'd get in or not, but I recommend contacting the admissions team via email ([email protected] ). If you had any questions specific to the course itself, I recommend asking one of our student ambassadors, Nathan, who takes politics

Hiya! We can't really give any advice on whether or not you'd get in, as we're not part of the admissions team nor its process unfortunately. My best advice is honestly to just contact the admissions team themselves, they'd probably give you much better advice than we would!

You can email them at: [email protected].
