Thanks, glad it's over. All the best for those who have the exams today.

Last year the process of processing assessment centre results and booking interviews was a real chore so hoping this year runs smoother!

I can’t imagine how they can mess that up 😂

I’m not feeling too optimistic after that exam though. Everything seemed tough for me😞

Reply 206

I was so panicked with the RANRA that I spent most time on that, wish I had done some more WG as I didn’t feel confident in that on the day (I used JTP)

Well done everyone who did the AC! I see the date to inform us of outcome is currently "February"
Can anyone who did it last year remember around when in February it was?

Similar story here, JTP had me so panicked about RANRA then it ended up being more straightforward than JTP! Then with WG, I was doing well when I was practicing but found the real exam challenging and I was unsure of myself a lot. SJT I was just going off vibes 😂 hoping my values align with what they want 🤷🏽*♀️ such weird tests and just totally unable to gauge how I did. I prepared a lot and it doesn’t feel like your performance depends on how much you prepare unfortunately. I left a lot of feedback for them during that survey 😅

Ohh no - in what way was it difficult if you don't mind me asking!?

I also left a lot of feedback and was honest around this process being unfair, not reflective of PH practice and costly (I paid £80 for my JTP pack)

From memory they kept delaying the scores being released such that it was closer to the time of interviews then they had originally planned

I also left much the same feedback!

I'm both impatient about the AC results and also afraid to see my results. I studied a lot, and have a lot of public health experience already, and still found the SJT really tough - especially given the lack of available revision resources.

JTP is not a prerequisite of the process, you can hardly say it's costly because you chose to buy it!

Yes, we could complain to JTP that the material isn’t representative, but not FPH.

I think we should bear in mind that the PH training scheme bears more resemblance to something like the civil service fast track scheme. It was originally geared towards doctors who want to become PH consultants. PH is very different to a lot of clinical practice and so the aptitude tests help to figure out who out of the doctors can - quickly read and interpret data and information and have passable office working aptitude. It is not a tradiitonal job interview where you necessarily have tons of PH experience behind you, a little bit is enough to show you are interested and understand what it is. If you have lots of PH practice behind you and you don't like the process, the route of working up the bands and eventually qualifying via portoflio route is right there for you.

I would encourage you to complain about JTP actually - it wasn't representitive! They have a refund policy that gives a partial refund in this instance - you just complete their online form. I think it's wrong that they market their package as dedicated towards the PH assessment centre when it's just a mash together of other rescources they already had!

Woah chill haha, I went to prep sessions with the recruitment reps and they said that to give yourself the best chance of passing, get the JTP.. so I did and I could luckily afford it but that doesn’t mean everyone could, I work in PH and I often think of inclusivity for everyone, not just for my own gain, I know someone who withdrew because they didn’t like that they had to pay to get decent revision materials
